Scary, wrong, outdated beliefs live in my unconscious mind.
Worst of all, these old assumptions and fears affect my mood and behavior, even though I’m usually unaware it’s happening as it’s happening. Ugg!
On the difference between feelings and emotions:
We can use feelings in healthy ways: pleasant or unpleasant? smooth or sharp?
Feelings are often a reliable guide for our actions. Sensitivity is helpful.
Where things get tricky is when my emotions prompt me to speak or act defensively or unconstructively to meet a need or protect a vulnerability.
What’s actually happening here is some buried memory, some old or false belief, unattended to need, repressed and unprocessed fear or sorrow, gets aroused by an event. Instantaneously and often subtly, e-motions arise. Unthinkingly, I (re)act.
The goal is to clear what clutters my unconscious/secretly directs my behavior, so I can live in the present and respond to life to the best of today’s knowledge.
How about you? Want to access what’s been buried in your psyche by learning to identify the patterns you use to deflect from coming to greater self-awareness? Â
Please join us at the Healing Stuck Grief meeting for our next workshop, July 7th and then again, July 14th. 10:00am PST.
Learn to understand and use triggers as aids to bring what’s been buried up into ordinary consciousness.
Our room capacity is 100 persons; we expect the room to max out.
To ensure access, please sign in early. Room opens 15 minutes before the start of the meeting.
If I can raise 50$ for an upgraded Zoom Room, more individuals can join us.
